Preparing For The Treatment
- The patient should not come to treatment hungry or on an empty stomach or immediately after eating.
- The patient should come with a clear or calm head.
- The patient should not come exhausted or emotionally upset to an acupuncture treatment.
- The patient should not engage in strenuous activity before or after treatment including very hot showers or use of a sauna.
- The patient should come with loose fitting clothes that can easily allow the placement of needles.
- Everybody has different sensitivity; some patients will not feel the needles at all while others will feel them more. The sensation usually subsides after the needles are in. The positive results usually outweigh the momentary discomfort.
- The needles typically need to stay in for about 20-25 minutes. In order for the needles to work, it is very important for the patient to be free from distraction and to remain quiet and calm throughout this time.
